How to cancel Dropbox
Cancel a paid Dropbox plan from the Plan page on dropbox.com. Your account drops to free Dropbox Basic at the end of the billing cycle.
Steps to cancel Dropbox
On dropbox.com
- Sign in to dropbox.com.
- Open your account settings and go to the Plan page.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Cancel plan.
- Follow the prompts to confirm.
- Check your email for a confirmation with the subject Dropbox Plan will not renew.
If you bought Dropbox on your phone
- You won't see Cancel plan on dropbox.com. Cancel with the store that bills you instead.
- On iPhone or iPad: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, then Dropbox.
- On Android: use Google Play subscriptions (see our Google Play guide).
If you can't cancel online
- Dropbox's help page also describes cancelling by physical mail. Follow the address and details on that page.
Before you cancel
- Cancelling is not the same as deleting your account. Your account stays and moves to Dropbox Basic (2 GB).
- The change isn't instant. You keep your paid plan until the end of the current monthly or yearly cycle and won't be charged again.
- These steps cover individual plans (Plus, Professional, Essentials). Team and Business plans are managed by an admin and work differently.
- Check how much you have stored before the switch; Basic only includes 2 GB.
What happens after you cancel
Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing cycle. After that your account becomes a free Dropbox Basic account with 2 GB of storage.

Common questions
Will cancelling Dropbox delete my files?
No. Downgrading to Basic isn't the same as deleting your account. Compare your stored data with the 2 GB Basic limit first.
I don't see a Cancel plan button. Why?
You may have bought Dropbox on your mobile device, so cancel through Apple or Google Play. Also check that you're signed in to the right Dropbox account.
